Ayrshire Hotels Ayrshire Scotland Hotel Accommodation
The traditional county of Ayrshire on the west coast, has, for centuries, been a virtual breeding ground for national institutions. It was here, in 1860, that Open Golf was introduced to the world, with the first Open Championship held in Prestwick. Along with its other sporting associations, which date back to the 16th-century racecourse in Ayr, the region was the birthplace of some of Scotland's most prominent figures, including William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Robert Burns. It's also home to some of the country's oldest and most evocative historical sites; dating from the glut of stone circles and cairns on the Isle of Arran, which have stood guard here since Neolithic times. The spectacular Culzean Castle, back on the mainland, is a fine example of the Neo-Classical, and perhaps even more impressively, has maintained its position atop some of the coast's most treacherous cliffs with no visible wear. The same can't be said for Turnberry Castle, just 3 miles south from here, however. Its ruined remains still remain popular though, on account of being the believed birthplace of Robert the Bruce. The mountainous inlands are perfect for both walking and cycling, and the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park in the north and Carrick Forest in the south are two favourites with returning visitors. If you're here for the golf, you'll find over 40 top quality courses spread across the county, including 3 spectacular Open Championship examples. If you need to stay in the Scottish county of Ayrshire this is the place to book your hotel room. All of our rooms at good prices and so convenient for you.
