Our location in the peaceful and beautiful town of Bradford-on-Avon is the ideal setting for a quiet weekend break, longer holiday, or as a base from which to explore the many and varied attractions that the surrounding area has to offer.
Although it is believed that this Grade II listed building was built in the 16th century as a riverside retreat for one of the wealthy merchants from the City of Bath, somewhere along the line it became a coaching house, and the feared hanging judge, Judge Jefferies, held court here on many occasions.
It has now been extensively refurbished to provide comfortable and up to date accommodation for our guests, but still retains its charm and sense of history. As you would expect from a building that dates back 5 centuries, all the rooms vary greatly in size and shape but this only adds to the charm and character of the tastefully decorated and comfortable rooms. All the rooms are en-suite and have TV, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.
The restaurant offers a varied selection of good quality foods and fine wines in a relaxed and friendly, non-smoking environment; or if you prefer, bar snacks are served throughout the day. In the bar you will find a wide range of cask conditioned ales, beers and lagers and an extensive selection of the finest wines.
