For its size, Cambridge has many Turkish restaurants, of which Efes is our favourite.
The image of Turkish cuisine is its roaring fires and strong flavours, which are present in abundance at Efes.
A reservation is preferable, as there are two meal sittings in the evening; one at 7pm and the other at 9pm; they are usually full, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. Courses move quickly over the two-hour period, so eat fast.
There are two open stoves bursting with flames and overflowing with meat. Kebabs are the main dish, and their version of the shish kebab (lamb and vegetables on a skewer) is arguably the most satisfying in the city. The baklava dessert is a delicacy.
If you are a vegetarian, then you might have difficulty finding something except for large portions of salads.
Tables for two can be found on the side for a bit more intimacy and privacy. A return visit is almost de-rigueur.
