The ancient market town of Kirbymoorside has stood on the southern edge of what is now the North Yorkshire Moors National Park for hundreds of years, and Appletree Court has been part of this village since it was built around 1750, and for most of its long history it has been a working farm.

Within just a short driving distance there are many areas of outstanding natural beauty, magnificent country houses that are open to the public, including Castle Howard, Helmsley Castle and Rievaulx Abbey.
