There are quite a number of heritage sights around Luton - Woburn Abbey and Deer Park - once the home of the Dukes of Bedford - has an outstanding collection of paintings, furniture and antiques. Gorgeous gardens and 3000 acres of parkland with rare species of deer. There's an antique centre and shops and cafe where you can rest a while. Woburn Safari Park is a wonderland filled with tigers, elephants, monkeys and there are some safe areas where the children can play and take a picnic.

Just outside Luton is the Museum and Art Gallery and Luton Hoo which is a great historical house. Stockwood Country Park houses the Mossman Collection of horse-drawn vehicles and the gardens show different styles of gardening throughout the centuries.

A short drive away is Leighton Buzzard Light Railway and Whipsnade Wild Animal Park.
