Just a two minute drive will take you to Ironbridge Gorge where the first cast iron bridge in the world was built in 1779 and still spans the river Severn. There are ten other industrial museums in the gorge that chronicle the importance that this gorge played in the industrial revolution. Ten minutes along the M54 is the Cosford Air Museum with static displays of aircraft from pre-war to the latest technology. Telford town is the centre of an important, and expanding, industrial area. Originally an overspill area for the cities of Wolverhampton and Birmingham it is now a thriving area that has attracted many famous name companies.
