Our location on the northern edge of Salisbury Plains offers those wishing to visit the local attractions the perfect base from which to plan their excursions. With 9 well proportioned and comfortable rooms, an excellent restaurant menu to choose from and a quiet beer garden to relax in after a days sight-seeing, we are sure that you will enjoy your stay with us.
The original building dates back several hundred years, and in parts of the building the original timbers can still be seen. According to local history there is reputedly a secret passage that runs from the pub to the Dauntsey's Public School, whose grounds are close by.
We have nine well proportioned and tastefully decorated, single, twin, double and family rooms that have been refurbished for the 2005 season and offer an excellent level of accommodation for our guests. All rooms have en-suite facilities with either shower or bath, colour TV and tea/coffee making.
The main building is divided into a traditional public bar, and a spacious restaurant and lounge bar. In the restaurant you will find an extensive A La Carte Menu, with a wide selection of main courses, but if you fancy something that is not on there, and as long as we have the ingredients, our chef will happily prepare it for you.
Avebury, the magnificent stone circle that predates Stonehenge; Stonehenge; West Kennet Long Barrow; Silbury Hill and Salisbury Cathedral, where you can see original parts of the Magna Carta, are all within easy travelling distance.
