Three Tuns Hotel Thirsk Market Place Online Booking
Built in 1698 as a magnificent residence by the local Lord Mayor, its position in the heart of a popular market town made it the perfect location for a coaching Inn and in 1740 that is what it became. The stables, built to house the horses that pulled the coaches, are still standing and many of the original features, including a superb staircase and oak panelled dinning room have been retained and help to create the authentic atmosphere.
Thirsk was the home of Alf Wight, a regular customer of the Three Tuns he was a local vet who wrote about his life in the Dales and is better known to millions as James Herriot, from the TV series 'All creature great and small'. One of our more notable guests was William Wordsworth, who stayed here in 1802 with his sister Dorothy.
We have twelve single, twin and double rooms. Each one is tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished and has everything that you could need for a superbly relaxed and enjoyable stay.
You can enjoy a superb range of traditional dishes, all created from only the finest locally produced ingredients and served in a warm ambiance and stylish surroundings of our dinning room. Enjoy a fine wine with your meal, and then sample one of excellent real ales in the friendly atmosphere of our lounge bar.
