The town of Shrewsbury has a long and varied history that stretches back to medieval times and there are many excellent historic buildings for you to visit. The Norman Castle, with work by the famous engineer Thomas Telford that was carried out in the 18th century, houses the Shropshire Regimental Museum. Adcote House, a Grade I listed building and Rowley's House Museum and 17th century mansion with a major collection of Roman art and much local history are all just minutes away.
Right in the heart of the town our warm and friendly establishment has its own interesting history. Originally built in the 17th century as a Coaching Inn it has provided weary travellers with much needed accommodation and good food as they travelled through the area. This noble tradition is continued to this day, except that now we provide superbly comfortable and elegant accommodation and excellent food in splendidly calm and relaxing surroundings. Over the many years of providing this service the charm and famed hospitality of our establishment has attracted many famous travellers to stay here, including Charles Dickens, King William IV and Madame Tussaud.
We have 59 well proportioned, tastefully decorated and comfortable single, twin and double rooms that have all the facilities you would expect from an establishment such as ours, with each room being equipped with stylish en-suite bathroom with bath or shower; central heating; windows that you can open; direct dial telephone with a modem connection that allows internet connection via your lap-top; hairdryer; remote control colour TV; smoke detectors and hospitality tray with tea, coffee and biscuits.
Dinning in our Shires Restaurant is always a pleasant and enjoyable experience, with a full and varied menu, plus 'Chef's Specials', speciality dishes lovingly prepared and presented by our talented and imaginative chef from the freshest local ingredients.
Whether you are here for pleasure to explore the many attractions of the town and the surrounding area or on business, you can be certain of a warm welcome, genuine hospitality and attentive, discrete service.
