The building that now houses the finest hotel in Whitby was originally built as 'Flowergate House' way back in 1779 and was modelled from the original plans of the famous Mansion House, in London. It was then, and arguably still is, one of the most distinctive and handsome buildings in North Yorkshire. It has had a long and varied history, in the 1800s it was opened as a hotel and remained this way until the 1950s when it was purchased the Whitby Working Mens Club Association. In 2002 it was purchased by the present owners and after a 2 million pound refurbishment it was restored to its former splendour, while also benefiting from the very latest in modern facilities.
With twenty-one twin, double and family rooms, including a four-poster room for those special, romantic occasions. Each room is elegantly styled, comfortably furnished and equipped with everything you would expect to find in a modern establishment such as ours.
