Hotels Wiltshire England Cheap Wiltshire Hotels GuideWiltshire is a county of records. It's home to Europe's most famous prehistoric monument, the Continent's largest prehistoric earthwork (Silbury Hill) and England's tallest church spire... to name but a few. Much of the county is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, helped by the inclusion of both the Cotswolds, and some beautiful, undulating downland, decorated with eight chalk horses carved into the slopes. Salisbury Plain is also known for its array of ancient attractions. Stonehenge is the oldest and best known. Dating back an amazing 5,000 years, its image is one that's become synonymous with the English countryside. To sample its atmosphere close-up, however, is an event that everyone should experience at one point in life. Elsewhere on the Plain you'll find the ex-Roman/Norman hill fort of Old Sarum, the 40-metre tall man-made earth mound of Silbury Hill (its purpose still unknown), a stone circle even wider than Stonehenge at Avebury, and West Kennet Long Barrow - England's biggest chambered tomb. Another famous settlement in the region is the city of Salisbury itself. Its stunning cathedral is both its main attraction and its symbol. As well as its 123-metre spire it also contains Europe's oldest working clock (made 1386) and forms part of the vista voted The Best View In Britain (we did say this is a county of records!). Wiltshire is fun to explore whichever way you wish to travel. It's especially well designed for walkers and cyclists, and features a 160-mile cycleway route that takes in all the best sights. If you need to stay in the English county of Wiltshire this is the place to book your hotel room. We have a good list of cheap hotels in Wiltshire for you to choose from and reserve online when ever you desire to do so.
